Behr Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Behr Paint Company (stylized as BEHR) is a supplier of architectural paint and exterior wood care products to the United States and Canadian do-it-yourself markets. BEHR manufactures interior house paints, exterior house paints, decorative finishes, primers, stains and surface preparation products sold exclusively at The Home Depot.Behr was founded in 1947 when Otho Behr, Jr. sold linseed oil wood stains to paint stores from the back of his station wagon. Behr approached his father, a chemist, to develop a formula for a redwood stain. The resulting growth of the business led Behr to move the company’s operations to an 800 square foot Quonset hut in Pasadena, California in 1948. The business outgrew this facility as well, and in the early 1950s Behr relocated the company to its current home in Santa Ana, California. Behr has grown as the home resale market created greater demand for paints, lighting, wallpaper and other goods.
Leige mentioned in a review: "I recently purchase Behr Floor and patio paint and followed the directions to the "T". I primed the concrete patio, let it dry, then painted the floor. We did not use the patio for 72 hrs as requested and actually gave it another 24 hrs to harden. Well after putting our furniture back on we noticed severe scratching from moving the furniture and then also after day 6 it rained and after the patio dried of water there are numerous water stains and it looks terrible. In all my years of painting concrete / wood Floors I have NEVER EVER had this outcome happen. This was my first and without a doubt my LAST time that I will ever purchase Behr paint for anything... Worst paint on the market.. I tried to upload some pics but it wont allow me, It's BAD just like the paint."
Current Employee - Sales Associate says"Can’t add spouse to benefits since she is offered (horrible) benefits at her employer. Seriously her benefits have huge deductibles and different policies. What a crock that they make so much money and are so stingy on benefits for families. They don’t care about families, just their pockets. Commission is based on factors outside sales rep control"
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"Watch your back or management may get you"
Current Employee - Logistics says"Company culture is "do the right thing". They do anything but. The culture of cronyism, racism, homophobia and sexism is protected and perpetuated by white, male executives who foster an environment of fear and compliance. It's an incredibly toxic and hostile work place. Their distinction of having won the "Best place to work in OC" 8 years in a row is a smokescreen to their practice of hiring minorities mostly in non-exempt and non-managerial positions to ensure compliance. Unfortunately, this won't change unless the executive team, with an average tenure of 20+ years, is completely turned over by a more diverse group."
Equipment Operator says"too much work and no more pay, corporate makes all the money and the employees do all the work with little pay!!"
Current Employee - Oder Puller says"Management changed for the worse , they don't care about the employees specially the temps . Their just numbers to them . They make you work 10/12 hrs a days and don't care about your health or your family."
Whearhouse specialist (Former Employee) says"at this place i always worked my butt off and did what my manager required, but even when i did thay i was doing thibgs wrong acording to them. 1st dont help others from other departments than its why dont u help people from other departments?"
Milling Operator (Current Employee) says"they had poor managent also. I left bercsue they didn't wanna pay a lot. you do more work than what you suppose to do. the people there was great. behr as a company is great.foodmanegment"
Fork Lift Driver/Loader (Current Employee) says"nice place for short term, they give you multiple work positions in which they call lateral training so they dont have to hire any new employees and no extra pay!!clean workplaceextra work and no extra money"
Technical Service Representative (Former Employee) says"Came on as a seasonal new hire through Optimus Group Staffing Agency. Training was 2 weeks which was not long enough to learn the job. Training itself was inefficient and material was not well covered. Half the class had quit or been terminated by the end of training. By 6 weeks in, more than 80% of the group I was with was gone. This was also the week I was informed by Optimus Group that Behr had terminated my contract without any explanation or reason. There was no warning, and Behr did not even bother to do the termination personally. I simply got home from a shift, received a phone call right as I got home, and was told to come back in to Optimus Group to return my security card and look for job opportunities. The Optimus Group agent after that simply never contacted me again. It is no surprise after working with both Optimus Group and Behr that they do not keep promises nor do they value their employees.Decent pay.Micro-management, strict, unfriendly management, rigid and nonsensical guidelines, insufficient training, no job security, no integrity in employee-employer relationships."
Reach Truck Operator (Former Employee) says"Terrible place to work, even more terrible management . They will let you go for absolutely no reason none what's so ever, do not work for this place especially 3rd shiftNoneTerrible working environment"
FILLER OPERATOR / PRODUCTION OPER. (Former Employee) says"They will suck your life. Youre just another number to them You have no saying. They will retaliate If you speak your mind. Just run, and get away fro. There"
Order Puller (Former Employee) says"Managers say they want new ideas but speaking up for something new or safety violations will get you in trouble especially if the person doing something unsafe is friends with a boss or has been at the job a line time. They refuse to train on the forklift due to canadits from the past and will over work you and if you even kindly try and tell them it's too much work you can still get disciplined for it. You are supposed to pull a min of 40,000lbs 10,000 an hour. If they notice you can do more, they start over working you and start trying to make you pull 12-15,000 per hr and the job wears on your back but all the card about is potential numbers and on top of that a good number of bosses have never pulled so they don't understand the work it takes to do the job. Just numbers"
Technical Support (Current Employee) says"The following advice is to the duplicitous Supervisors and Director, "Know what you don't know"..after all, this is what you constantly tell your employees. Stop female favoritism, treat both sexes equally and be honest with your employees and yourselves. Quit making it up as you go along under the pretense that you knew what you were doing in the first place.Pros – Able to gain extra experience by learning on my own, no thanks to anyone else. You learn very early that Behr Process is a revolving door with new training classes starting every other week.Cons – Micro-Management on a whole new level. They will dangle the carrot of full time employment all the while knowing they have no intention of hiring you. You will hear lines like..."That's why you are a keeper", etc. Employees are the sacrificial lambs to the Supervisors and Director. Honestly, you are there to catch their fall and failures. Company is unwilling to invest in quality employees.you realize that management is incompetent.company will run you through a local staffing agency."
former employee (Former Employee) says"management likes to micro manage--- cant let each dept do their own job- not a bad place thoughbenefitsnever pays enough-- not even cost of living"
Maintenance Technician (Former Employee) says"Literally anyone can maintain a job at this place if you can play the victim well. If you are Latino and from California, you will have a well paying job for life. Leaving this CULTure was the best thing to happen me. I don't miss the subjective management.4-10 work scheduleClicky environment, maintenance support team is treated like second hand citizens, HR (People Services) runs the show like communist."
Territory Sales Manager (Former Employee) says"This company is downsizing and not recommended to work for. The company keeps making cut backs. The hardest part is getting all your work done.a jobvery high stress and no personal time"
order puller (Current Employee) says"A typical day at Behr can be good or bad. I learned not to believe in the management team. my co-workers are great people to work with but hardest part is trying to get a raised or promotion there. If management do like you then no raise or promotion.free lunch once a monthpoor management team"
Driver (Former Employee) says"The worse company to work for. They are no good people. They will set you up if your not like. Believe me. Watch the the people around you. They like to set you up.."
jobsetter (Former Employee) says"the hardest part of my job was dealing with the under trained supervision. had nice co-workersgood healthcarepoor managment"
Welder/Assembler (Former Employee) says"There safty was never to be seen on the floor.Management was lacking leadership skills very unorganized company. Not a good job if you got a life this company will take advantage of you if you let them. The people you work with are great made loss of friends they all have the same feeling about it as I do.there is a lunch room and fresh food on site if you can afford it !!!!!!!!!brake are really short no time to eat. your first brack is 10mins lunch is 15mins"
Regional Shift Supervisor (Former Employee) says"I did two 'tours of duty' at Behr. The first time I was the day shift Supervisor I was micromanaged and treated poorly on a daily basis by my Assistant Manager. I gave it a year before I decided that returning to school was a much better decision. The second time around (after completing my MBA), I again accepted the offer as the day shift Supervisor. Why come back? The corporate culture plus the fact that the previous management had been cleansed and a new team that aligned with the culture was in place. Sadly, opportunity was promised yet not delivered when the Distribution Manager position opened and I was denied the chance to even apply. Another company saw my value and "POOF", Behr and I parted ways under mutual terms."
Operator (Former Employee) says"I truly don't have to much to say about working there. Made a few friends, and told there was advancement, and found out it's who you know not what you know.free lunchesno advancment"
Technical Services Representative (Former Employee) says"Over all the job security is not great. Behr is not willing to hire people and tons of people being trained while they release other temps. The ethic of this process seems pretty unjust.Relaxed environmentNot a stable job"
Operations (Former Employee) says"BEHR as a whole was great to work for, but upper management will do whatever it takes to advance their own agenda, and protect their own position. This includes firing people that they don't agree with or stand in their way. Many of the upper management are stuck in their ways as they have been there for decades. They are quick to pull the plug on employees and give little to no reason why. There are definitely some political struggles up top."
hvac (Former Employee) says"Behr is a job that will work you 16 hrs a day with forced overtime and it doesn't bother the supervisors to do that to you because they are usually going home to their familyshort breaks"
